Look Inwards

Privacy

Updated October 13, 2026

Look Inwards is a personal input and activity journal. This policy covers Look Inwards at lookinwards.com and the Inputs page inside thediary.fun. Diary entries outside Inputs are a separate service.

What is saved

Your inputs, 1–5 answers, emoji entries, their timestamps, removed-input status, lists, list edits and ordering history, and preferences are saved to make the journal and Patterns work. Inputs and answers may contain sensitive information you choose to enter.

Before sign-in, journal content is stored in this browser's local storage. It survives reloads but can be lost if you clear site data, use private browsing, or change devices. It is not uploaded as guest journal data. The hosting provider still receives ordinary connection information when the site is loaded.

Custom images

Optional face detection and cropping run locally in your browser. Original photos and face-detection results are not uploaded. Only the small image crops you choose to add are saved with your journal and synced when you sign in. Face detection finds regions for cropping; it does not identify people.

Google sign-in and sync

Google and Firebase Authentication provide sign-in. The app receives your account identifier and basic Google profile information, including email, and uses the identifier to separate each person's cloud journal. Signing in merges the journal you used on this device into that account. It does not provide access to your email messages, contacts, or Google Drive.

Signed-in journal content is stored in Cloudflare D1 and cached in your browser for offline use. Firebase/Google and Cloudflare process information to provide authentication, hosting, storage, security, and reliability. Their infrastructure may process data outside your country. Network requests use HTTPS. The journal is not end-to-end encrypted.

Use of your data

The app uses entries to display your journal, calculate Patterns, and sync your devices. This build has no advertising or analytics trackers and does not send your answers to an AI service. Input suggestions are a bundled library; filtering them does not require an AI request.

Your controls

You can edit inputs, remove individual answers and emojis, and export your journal from Account. Removing a input archives it with its history so it can be restored. List edits and removed items remain in rewind history. Restoring a version adds a new saved moment without erasing later history. For permanent deletion, use Delete account and data.

Account deletion removes all journal content from the active Look Inwards database and clears this browser's Look Inwards cache. A minimal account identifier and deletion timestamp remain to prevent older devices from uploading deleted content again. Shared Firebase sign-in identity may remain because it is also used by the owner's other apps; deletion here does not delete your Google account or unrelated app data. Contact support to request review of that shared identity.

Provider recovery backups and operational/security logs can remain until their normal retention expires. A device that is offline may retain its old local copy until it reconnects; you can clear its site data yourself. Signing in and deliberately creating new entries starts a new journal.

About Patterns and suggested inputs

Patterns describe your recorded entries. Correlations do not establish causes. The optional input library includes PHQ-9, GAD-7, and PSS-10 wording supplied by the owner, public-domain IPIP personality items, and original everyday prompts. All use this app’s 1–5 answers and continuous timestamps instead of the original scale formats; no clinical totals or reverse scoring are calculated. Selecting a subset does not constitute a validated inputnaire or a diagnosis. Look Inwards is not a medical or emergency service.

Privacy requests and support
